PILATES CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
MAT:
**Beginner Pilates : (level 1) For those with no or minimal Pilates experience, or need a refresher. The 5 basic principles will be emphasized along with basic exercises to mobilize the spine, shoulders and hips; incorporating initial strengthening of the core, and connection with the abdominals. This is the foundation upon which all other classes are built- we recommend this class or private sessions before advancing to the next level. Classes 75min.
Balls of Fun! : (level 2/3) For those with a minimum of 6 weeks of Pilates experience, the 5 principles will be applied to various exercises at the essential level. Stability Balls and/or Toning Balls will be added to further enhance the mat exercises. Students are encouraged to work at their level depending upon their experience.
Intermediate Mat/ small apparatus: (level 4) For those with 6 months or more experience at the essential level or have demonstrated strength and stability during the “prep” exercises, looking to further challenge strength, endurance and coordination.
REFORMER:
Beginner Reformer: (level 1) For those with a minimum of 6 weeks Pilates mat experience and want a varied resistance challenge from Pilates equipment.
Essential Reformer: (level 2) For those with a minimum 6 weeks experience of Reformer, a progressive class working towards the full essential repertoire.
Intermediate Reformer: (level 4): Ready for more challenge? Our instructor will take you through a dynamic, full-body workout that focuses on improving flexibility and core strength, with exercises that stretch and tone all muscle groups.
Circuit Training (level 2/3/4): Get ready for a non-stop challenging workout! We'll alternate between exercises on the Mat, Reformer, & Stability Chair. Consult the instructor to choose which level is best for you. Class size is limited to 4.
STRENGTH CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Women of Steel: First launched in 2000, this program has grown into the area's most popular weight training program. Whether to learn about strength training, for the motivation and camaraderie of a group setting or to perfect your form, this class will meet your needs. We meet twice/week for the session duration- each week building upon the previous week. Please come 10 minutes early to warm up prior to each class start.
Group Strength: A fun way to incorporate strength training into your fitness routine. To the beat of the music we will work all the major muscle groups in the 55 minutes- includes warm up, and stretching at the end for a total body challenge. A great way to start or end your day! We meet twice/week for the session duration.
